Ellen DeGeneres, the newest judge to sit on FOX’s flagship reality-TV show American Idol, released her comments about her team player Simon Cowell on the show’s web site today.

He’s actually meaner than I thought. It’s hard to listen to him tell people things and for me not to go, “You poor thing!’”

Um, Ellen. Not sure if you got the memo, but Simon Cowell is what made the show the shiny gem it was. Take some notes. It’ll help in giving the show some ratings.

Simon Cowell announced early this year that he will be leaving the show to focus on creating a U.S. version of his UK hit show The X Factor. DeGeneres begins her on-air debut on AI Tuesday night.
